Approved Medications for Kidney Disease Patients

The following "Over-the-counter" medications are APPROVED for your use by your Nephrologist

Fever or Pain
Tylenol 325mg 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours. DO NOT exceed 6 tablets in a 24-hour period

Cough
Robitussin cough syrup—dose according to product recommendations Mucinex

Cold-conjestion
All Robitussin

Diarrhea
Imodium AD—Dose according to product recommendations (if diarrhea persists more than 48 hours, please notify your physician)

Stool Softener
Surfak 1-2 tablets as needed, maximum of 4 tablets per day

Constipation
Dulcolax tablets or suppositories—dose according to product recommendations (if constipation persists more than 48 hours please notify your physician)

  • NO FLEET ENEMAS
